When it comes to points to ponder I believe the question of what you really want is at the top of many of our lists. It’s a question that can a running dialogue in our headand can create a vision of a life that we desire but haven’t quite made it there yet. Figuring out what it is that you want in life isn’t even the hard part. All of us are still tied somehow to what we wanted out of life when we were children. Read any of the books by the most successful entrepeneurs in the world and they will all begin with how they began to work on their “capital” as children. Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad) melted toothpaste containers when they were made of metal to try to out of the meltings, Warren Buffet (The Snowball ) studied business as a hobby when he was a teenager. I happened to cut and color my barbies. We will always remain tied to our childhood aspirations but somehow we let that desire dwindle and what we really “want” becomes a simmering pot left on the back burner.
Becoming a Six Figure Hairdresser is one of the most fantastic voyages you will ever go on. You already get paid to do what you love most, now it’s time to turn that revenue into six figures.
“Becoming” sometimes seems to get misinterpreted and for some it may sound like if you are becoming then you are almost there. Becoming is the part of a process and it takes a few evaluations. It’s so easy to SAY ” I want to give more to my church, or my community.”, ” I want a new car ” …” I want. I want, I want….”"” What you really have to tap into is the desire! “I want” are just a couple of words until you put some passion behind them.
How do you become that person that you WANT to be? I am partial to the industry I have been blessed to be a part of for more than 18 years, 35 if you count the Barbies and what I love about it most is all of the diversity and different avenues you can travel down in our field to become the person your heart desires to be. What we must open our eyes to and focus on is How Are We Going To Get There? You wouldn’t buy a brand new living room suit and put it in a dirty cluttered house would you? So, how can we achieve our goals without first evaluating our shortcomings and discovering what it is that is keeping us from becoming A Six Figure Hairdresser.
If you have turned your wants from mere thoughts into a full on fire of passion to finally Be That Person then it won’t take you long to pinpoint the direction you need to go in and fine tune your skills to catapult you to your destination. The best way to determine that your results are going to equal your actions and that you are setting yourself up for success is to evaluate the processes you go through on a daily basis and figure out what you need to change to reach your goal.
How is your consultation? Be honest, be thorough….
How are your technical skills? Do you need some more training to expand your skills?
What about your customer service skills? Would brushing up on them possibly increase your clientele or referrals?
What about your finishing skills? Are you giving them 110% until they walk out the door?
How well have you done in continuing your education after you graduated? Are you taking advantage of the offered in your area or have you learned everything there is to learn? Ok, the latter is a joke! You never know it all. That is truly the beauty of this industry. There is always room to grow and learn. Motivation is everywhere! You would be surprised at how many veteran stylist would love the opportunity to mentor an up and coming stylist.
Everyone is going to have their own unique path to success and what defines success to you may be completely different from anyone else’s.
