I was at ISSE this past weekend, having a conversation with a future professional. We were discussing the disconnect between "industry leaders" and their audience. She told me about emailing certain "leaders", as instructed per school, to act as "mentors", and how after many attempts, emails and phone calls went ignored. I too have experienced this w my peers and people i thought to be mentors, and understand the disappointment and discouragement it causes. If you call yourself a leader, a mentor, a teacher, it is part of the path YOU selected to be that role. We all choose our path and what comes along with it, and if you really want to be what your audience believes you to be, you must remain connected. It can be done. I do, because I know what it means, and how it can change a life. That's what matters. Not celebrity clients, or acrobatic hair shows, not your audio cd series or your persona, but being there for your industry, and the people that helped bring you to where you are. We are better than that. Aren't we?  c.

Jeyhun, that saddens me, and I don't accept it. I do care, and I know peers of mine that do care. Its sad that the important ones that preach the most don't seem to care. But I agree it does give me more energy and strength, to show all these "leaders" how its supposed to be done, and make the industry aware that these people are nothing more than smoke in mirrors when it comes to being a "mentor" or "leader". We will show them how its supposed to be done, with love, respect, passion, and unity. boom.
