Comment by Kate Wright on March 21, 2011 at 2:02pm Happened to me last Monday. They meant to ask for a partial highlight but asked for a color retouch.
New client. The consultation was HYSTERICAL though; we both thought the other one was insane.
"You really want to take your entire head this light? Really?"
"Yes."
"...your WHOLE head. Leaving no natural color behind?"
"yes."
"...even though there's no color in the back of your head?"
"They usually don't color back there."
(insert me trying to visualize a creative color blocking to make this work) "Why don't we look at some pictures?"
10 min. later.
"They usually use foils."
Me: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhkay. I'm on it.
Consequently, a haircut guest was totally receptive to my color suggestion and when she pre-booked, we were able to correctly block the time I needed for what she wanted on her NEXT visit.

Comment by Lupe Voss on March 21, 2011 at 1:45pm Totally... OR to find out she wants a complete color CHANGE!!!!! It happened to me the other day.
How fast can your hand move??? LOL
Comment by Kate Wright on March 21, 2011 at 1:40pm I love this and its so true. How often do we get stuck with a 30 minute time slot for a retouch because that is what the guest normally does and they come in and say they want all over highlights? If we had discussed what she wanted to change at her previous visit, I wouldn't find myself hyperventilating at how to squeeze in a full head of foils in half the time.
