My message was too long to get on here and I'm trying my best to nock on as many doors in the UK to get these products banned . I admire your comments on here and they have inspired me considerably .

It's only a question of time before everyone realises that there is a dark side to the industry . It's like For what reason are there so many Trichologist / clinics / salons , that have a turnover of clients , like never before . In Cambridge , one said clinic was very proud to tell me that she deals with alot of people suffering from hair loss . Especially from hair straightening products . Then got very defensive as I told of my plan to get them all banned . Claiming they are totally safe as she does them in her salon area . Hmmm

My name is Petra Johnson . I have been hairdressing 35 years and I've been in business 22 years , with a thriving salon in Stamford , Lincolnshire . I was approached by a rep to take on board one of the New Relaunched Hair Straightening products , that is supposed to be Reformulated in the space of a few weeks ???? Myself and  my sister ( 2 different hair types ) and for training purposes tested the product before we launched it to the public . We both have 50% +........HAIR LOSS . The salon was a smog of fumes and it stank of rot . As did my hair for at least 3 weeks . The same smell . What was that ? as this was supposed to be formaldehyde free !I sent back the product, confiscating one sample ( Trading Standards are visiting me 30th August to test it )  I have been in touch with the MD of the company that gets his supply  from Brazil . We have spoken in length and was foolish enough to tell me , that he first tried out his new formulated product on his mother's fringe . It FELL out but was confused as hair was falling out on her crown too . I explained that it would be when it was rinsed through .He is insistent that after a doctors appointment , and then being diagnosed with a thyroid problem ,his mothers hair loss was because of that and not his product . Insisting that I too ought to be tested for that ! ( I have proof of this conversation in emails sent between ourselves ) For him and to prove that it was his product , I had tests done at the doctors . All of which I passed and have proof of the results . Truth is this product should not touch the scalp and in training one has to apply a centimetre from the scalp . There will be a reason for this .... I'm presuming that very much like applying Bleach with 18% peroxide you would cause extreme damage to the scalp . Everyone forgets though , that during rinsing it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep it off the scalp . Some of these products the client goes away for 3 days with this product on their hair , sleeping ( hair touc

Thanks for getting in touch and your comment and I'm glad you like the concept.

We are a fledgling organisation that's trying to make a difference in a very corporate hair industry, but we're getting there and the support of hairdresser like yourself is invaluable.

Thanks for your comment, Scott. I was referring specifically to Keratin Express, the brand that claims to be safe. You pointed out the toxic chemicals in the ingredients list, and I'm living proof that it's just as dangerous as all the rest -- or even more so, because it claims to be formaldehyde-free and can trick people into getting it!
