History of haircutting.

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 7:49am 0 Comments

A new video by Flint Whincop the person who invented Balayage technique for haircoloring in the 1976.

Now we have a name to remember when we do this technique in the salon.

ENJOY the history lesson. Full marks to Flint who is a hairdresser and did this all on his own. Very poffessional film.

I thought you may like to see this little film put together by a fellow hairdresser and not a proffesional company.  Have a BLAST for the PAST.................................

The other day someone said about a haircut that it was BOYISH. That realy upsets me. We are steriotyped, If you cut a womans hair short she is boyish The person critisizing could not see father than the hairs on the womans head, but if she wears trousers (Pants) today thats not considered boyish any more. When we cut a womand hair short she has freedom.  Just the same as pants give freedom to sit anyway a woman wants to. The word should be FREE not boyish.

Yesterday,

I was watching someone touch up a photo. The girl in question had her thighs re-aligned, legs thinned, her spots taken away and just about everything touched up on the color of the skin . She was even given a body that was down sized to a size 0 dress. Her neck was made longer and thinner, her hair was given a check that took the "bits" of the tips of the hair and made it look strait as a die and the colour was enhanced. Her nostrils were redimentioned her nose…

Fashion and the TEST OF TIME

I remember in the early 60s the Gradated Bob haircut was new. It was something fantastic but many women would not think of having this look. Later the Shage hairstyle took its place and even this was not easy for a short time as women up until then would want to go to a hairdresser for a shampoo and set. Haircuts by hairdressers around the world were often given away for free.  There was a shock value in new work. When we look at the photos of the past we can not get the "Feeling" of the… Continue

Apologies for the very delayed reply  - I'm not on  HB as much as I need to be! Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I do photo shoots and they're so much fun and such great learning experiences. Having a dog is such a joy and she loves being in photo studios. Anyway, hope you're having a wonderful 2011. Love your posts...keep them coming!
