- Avian King has only been in the industry a mere 5 years. She has built a clientele in record time, she is one of the lead stylists and educators at Ola Salon in Seattle, and she has managed to travel around the country doing shows such as NAHA, Intercoiffure, and NYC Fashion week. Her biggest achievement to date is having been asked to become a Hair Designer TV Ambassador for the internationally recognized Vivienne Mackinder.
As part of Vivienne Mackinder's HairDesignerTV team, she gets to assist Vivienne on shows around the country, train with her in NYC, as well as speaking at salons to share about HairDesignerTV.
Avian is the lead of the editorial team at the salon she works in Seattle, and she is also an ambassador for the L'Oreal Professional team.
Her passion for education is one that she hopes to bring to other stylists."I love to teach, and I love to be taught. Watching someone learn, and understand, is the most inspiring part of my craft. Without education, there would be no passion, and no growth. The day we stop learning is the day we die."
When she isn't assisting Vivienne on shows, working behind the chair in Seattle, or training in NYC and locally in Seattle, she is doing editorial shoots for local publications, or practicing in her home studio.
"I built a studio, like a home office so to speak, in my loft. Instead of watching television, I watch a tutorial on hairdesignertv.com and then go practice in my studio. It keeps me inspired and connected to my craft."
Avian desires to become a more prominent editorial stylist, and to continue to learn, teach and share about the passion that she has for the industry and education.
