Hi there Allen. So good to see you here and I really enjoyed your Videos. You really helped me to understand the Architecture of design back in the early eightys when I knew nothing about what i was doing but lifting the hair over the head , cutting it and wondered what else could I do with it. It sounds quite funny but I do think that a lot of hair cutters to this day have no idea what to do with hair but just be cookie cutters because they too suffer not really understanding what they are doing. I still use your Condensed Method and have to stop every once in a while and my memory goes way back when i took classes from you when you founded OBIUS then took classes after that when you had your academy in Cerritos CAlifornia. ONe thing I will always remember when you asked our class there that you were thinking about starting a product line and asked us if we knew of a name for it. I don't know how it happened but we all agreed that ABBA was the name of choice because the first letters of this name represented The Alen Banfied Bush Academy. By the way I don't know if you remember this. My wife Patricia and I last so you at the new location of the Vidal Sassoon in Santa Monica. We were talking to HEnry Able when we both noticed Vidal and you were having a wonderful discussion and PAtricia ask you if she could take a picture of you both. It's the same one that's she later she sent to you and that is shown here in one of your videos. We are so happy for you our friend and we both had a such a great time partying with you during and after your events. WE use to work with Gloria Paprock way back then and Shiela Gomez was such a true jewel. We both hope to here fro you when you are not so busy,, Take care our friend and thank you for every thing you have done for this industry.,

Robert Banyaga said… - I totally agree with Robert Lee Casillas' comments! I began my career at ABBA Academy, straight from Cosmetology & High School and went on to become a Master Affiliate for ABBA Pure & Natural. Without Alan's guidance and mentoring, I don't think I would've had such a solid foundation or understanding of hair design at such a young age with so few years of real hairdressing under my belt. I was fortunate enough to travel internationally with ABBA and meet so many wonderful people that I still run into at Tradeshows and Seminars! The knowledge of the Method has helped me in all aspects of the craft: Colour, Texture and Design, and Alan's euphemisms always come to mind in when the situation arises ("little things matter, because there's lots of little things"), especially on topics such as Building a Clientele or the Reasons why Clients leave you. Alan also inspired me to fall in love with education and had faith in my ability even when I didn't (or when I felt I had little or none)! Getting the trial by fire at the Academy seminars and at Shows was an amazing experience that I'll never forget! Thanks again Alan for all that you've enlightened in the hairdressing world and I can hardly wait to see you out and about again! Take care!

Robert Lee Casillas said… It is my opinion that Alan Benfield-Bush is the best precision haircutting instructor in the world. As a Master Affiliate for ABBA Pure and Natural I got to work with Alan for many years, then he semi-retired and I missed him for 11 long years.
I had the honor and great pleasure to be reunited with him at Colure Hair Care the past two years. I had 11 years worth of questions for Mr. Bush and he answered each and every one of my pointed questions of the "The Method".
His answers propelled me to new heights in my professional career as a platform artist and educator because I knew I had the correct answers to the fine art of precision haircutting.
