I have a client who I've been doing another stylist's formula on for a few times.  Its an all over red and we formulate for regrowth and ends.  The ends are more of a gloss/demi but still not as vibrant as I think they should be.  Is this where a…Continue

Scalp irritation

Started by Lauren Simmons. Last reply by Kimberly Creekmore Jul 2. 5 Replies

So I have recently had a few clients experience scalp irritations during color processing with FSP. When I used 9n on scalp, it did not irritate them, but bumping it up to a 10n had their scalp on fire immediately. I have tried using sweet and low…Continue

Lexlie's formula sound perfect. There are formulas I have been working with that have been working well.

1 scoop Enlightener

10 or 15 grams of Universal 0N (this will dilute the power hence the catalyst choice)

60ml 40 volume

The Universal is keeping the product from drying out and because it dilutes the power of the Enlightener, you would have to use 40 volume to actually get a 30 volume lift. I find the product works longer (not drying out) and is very even and clean.

Keep us posted on your end result.

Jason- we do equal parts enlightener. booster and developer. For example 30 gr enlightener, 30 gr booster and 30 gr 30 volume. No bleeding at all and so easy to work with!

Quick question regarding Enlightener...

I know that the Aveda Enlightener swells, so I was wondering what would be a good way to Balayage with Enlightener? I want to find a way to prevent bleeding and I haven't been able to come up with a good idea yet...

You would have to cleans her hair... If she wants to be bright, I would pre-lighten to an Orange Yellow.

(for an Intense 7V

Intense Base 40ml

drk BV 2.5g (neutralize the NRP)

lt VB 5g

Pure Pigment Violet 8.5g

20 volume

You have to have an even cleanse for this to work. It has to be an orange yellow... not orange starting point.

I helped one of my junior stylists formulate a color for purple highlights on previously colored hair:
High density, medium-thick texture, wavy Hispanic hair. Her formula: 20g violet pp, 6g v/r intense base 40g, equal parts 20 vol. sprayed in equalizing solution first. Very irregular starting point, possibly red-orange and purple and some black. Basically a nightmare! It came out a even purple level 6ish. She wants it brighter though of course!! Any thoughts??

Pam, The best formula to use to get Manic Panic out is 10N + 20 or 30 volume. 10N is like an eraser of color. The perfect balance of Ammonia.

Try it. Make sure to condition her .  Keep us posted.
